This 1990 BMW M3 is one of approximately 5,300 examples produced for the North American market between 1987 and 1990. Power is supplied by a 2.3-liter S14 inline-four that has been modified with a Turner Motorsports ECU tuning chip and a revised camshaft gear, while shifting is through a five-speed manual transmission mated to a limited-slip differential. Finished in Alpine White II over Natur Bison leather, the car is further equipped with a power sunroof, a rear spoiler, Bilstein shocks, lowering springs, and 17″ Racing Dynamics five-spoke alloy wheels as well as front sport seats, an onboard computer, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo.
The car is finished in Alpine White II and features an electric sunroof, a rear spoiler, fog lights, painted mirror caps, twin exhaust outlets, and wider fenders compared to the standard E30. The rear spoiler and lower portion of the front bumper cover were repainted under current ownership. The windshield and taillight assembly gaskets were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The Racing Dynamics 17″ five-spoke alloy wheels were refinished in 2023, and they are mounted with 215/40 Yokohama Advan Fleva tires that have production-date codes from 2023. Bilstein shocks and struts have been installed along with lowering springs and stainless-steel brake lines. The front and rear sway bar bushings as well as the brake pads and rotors at each corner have been replaced within the last year.
The cabin features manually adjustable front sport seats as well as a rear bench upholstered in Natur Bison leather. Amenities include an onboard computer, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. The air conditioning system was overhauled in preparation for the sale with a replacement compressor, condenser, dryer, expansion valve, and hoses and recharged with R134a refrigerant.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel is joined by a leather-wrapped shift knob and fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level.
The 2.3-liter S14 inline-four was factory rated at 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque and has been modified with a Turner Motorsports ECU tuning chip, a revised exhaust-side camshaft gear, and a Dinan oil pan baffle. Work beginning in April 2023 has involved refurbishing the engine control unit, adjusting the valves, changing the fluids and filters, and replacing the following parts:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Work since April 2023 has included changing the transmission and differential fluids and replacing the exhaust hangers and flywheel sensors.
Service records and parts receipts will accompany the car along with manufactuer’s literature, a tool kit, seat covers, and floor mats.
