This 1978 Mercedes-Benz 300D is finished in Medium Red over Bamboo MB-Tex upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.0-liter diesel inline-five paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Further equipment includes 14″ wheels with color-matching covers as well as a sunroof, cruise control, air conditioning, and a Becker Europa II AM/FM radio. Work in preparation for the sale is said to have included a valve adjustment, fluid and filter changes, and replacing the valve cover gasket, auxiliary water pump, drive belts, tires, and air conditioning compressor, receiver drier, and servo.
The car is finished in Medium Red and features an optional power-operated sunroof, fog lights, dual side mirrors, a power antenna, and bright trim.
The 14″ wheels feature color-matching covers and are mounted with 195/70 Hankook Kinergy ST tires that were installed following the selling dealer’s acquisition. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner. The brake fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Bamboo MB-Tex, and Zebrano veneer trim accents the dashboard and center console. Interior amenities include power windows, cruise control, air conditioning, and a Becker Europa II AM/FM radio. A set of sisal floor mats is included in the sale.
Instrumentation consists of a 115-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 37k miles.
The 3.0-liter OM617 diesel inline-five was factory rated at 77 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. The oil and coolant were changed in preparation for the sale, and the selling dealer states that a valve adjustment was performed and the valve cover gasket, auxiliary water pump, drive belts, fuel filters, and air conditioning compressor, receiver drier, and servo were replaced at that time.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The engine and transmission mounts have been replaced.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to Autohafen Inc. of Chicago Heights, Illinois along with factory colors, equipment, and a total suggested retail price of $18,523. Manufacturer’s literature and a service booklet are included in the sale.
