In preparation for the sale the muffler and drive belts were replaced, the fuel tank, sunroof, and some wiring were repaired, and the fluids were changed.
The car bears a tag in the engine bay indicating that it was finished in schwarz (black) although no paint code is provided, and the seller believes that the color was changed from green to black at some point under previous ownership. Service records indicate that the car was repainted in 1985 and again in 1994.
Basketweave-style 15″ wheels wear BBS-logo center caps and are mounted with Goodyear front tires and Michelin rear rubber.
The interior features bolstered seats with tan upholstery and matching door panels. Patterned Coco mats protect tan carpeting in the footwells, and equipment includes a sunroof, power windows, and a Sony stereo.
Work in preparation for the sale included replacing electrical switches, repairing wiring, the horn, and the sunroof. A replacement felt sunroof seal was also installed.
A Nardi steering wheel sits ahead of VDO instrumentation that includes a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles and has rolled over; true mileage is unknown. Approximately 150 miles are said to have been added since 2012.
The 3.0-liter inline-six was replaced more than 25 years ago and features dual carburetors with K&N filters. Service in preparation for the sale included replacing the muffler and drive belts, repairing the fuel tank and a coolant leak, and changing the fluids; a $7,577 invoice for the work performed by The Third Garage LLC of New Milford, Connecticut in May 2021.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which was sourced from a 1985 535i and installed in 1999 using conversion components from La Jolla Independent BMW Service of California.
A binder with older photos, copies of previous titles, and more than 100 pages of receipts dating back to 1979 will aLompany the car.
