This 1965 Volkswagen Type 2 is a Sundial Camper that was refurbished in Alaska during the early 2000s and was acquired by the seller out of Nebraska in 2020 and subsequently relocated to Florida. The bus was repainted its current shade of beige following completion of bodywork during prior ownership. Exterior features include white-finished bumpers with overriders, a Jalousie rear passenger-side window, a split windscreen, LED headlights, and chrome side-view mirrors. Spare rubber headlight and taillight seals are said to be included in the sale.
White-painted 14” steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 195-width Cooper SRM II Radial tires. The van features an upgraded front stabilizer. The front disc brakes were installed during current ownership.
The cabin houses front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with matching door panels and rubber-lined floors. Lap belts are fitted for the front occupants.
A black two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color metal dashboard housing an 80-mph VDO speedometer and fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 4k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The rear of the cabin features gray carpets and wood paneling on the roof, door panels, and sides. Features include an ice chest, a fold-away table, storage cabinets, LED overhead lights, and folding bench seats trimmed in black vinyl. Wear is visible on one of the door panels. The seller notes that a coffee maker and camp-style propane stove are included in the sale.
The 1.6-liter flat-four features a single carburetor, a 15-gallon bay-window fuel tank, and a 12-volt electrical system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual Freeway Flyer transaxle. Work in 2021 is said to have included an oil change along with replacement of the ignition points and condenser.
A binder of photos taken prior to and during the refurbishment will accompany the vehicle.
