The SSR features styling inspired from the post-war Chevrolet Advance Design family of trucks and is built on a modified version of the GMT360 platform that is shared with the contemporary TrailBlazer SUV. This example is finished in purple and features a power-operated retractable hardtop, a removable body-colored tonneau cover, fog lights, integrated running boards, a receiver hitch, and a dual-outlet exhaust system.
Black carpeting lines the rear cargo area, which features optional wood inlays.
Silver-painted 19″ and 20″ wheels are fitted with Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires measuring 255/45 up front and 295/40 out back. The SSR features an independent front suspension and a five-link rear suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, and an electronic traction control system.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather with a matching dashboard, console, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes heated and power-adjustable seats, a factory stereo with an in-dash six-disc CD changer, Bose premium sound, auto-dimming mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, and SSR-branded floor mats.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer indicates 22k miles.
The 5.3-liter Vortec V8 was rated at 300 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque when new.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission with a Torsen limited-slip differential.
