This 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 was acquired by the seller in 2016 after having been abandoned at a Mississippi body shop for approximately 12 years. Modifications performed under current ownership include installation of a Mosley Motors 4.4-liter Toyota 2F inline-six, a Toyota H55 five-speed manual transmission, Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, Old Man Emu and Dobinsons suspension components, a drag link and steering rods from an FJ60, a Long Range Automotive 55-gallon fuel cell with RobbMc PowerSurge fuel pump, a 70-series snorkel, a Warn VR8000 winch, FrontRunner load bars, Summit Racing Smooth Vintique wheels, and a rebuild of the rear driveshaft, front axle, and Valley Hybrids split transfer case. The truck is finished in red and white, and the interior has been refurbished with Corbeau front bucket seats, a reupholstered rear bench seat, a RetroSound stereo, and Noico and Lizard Skin insulation.
The truck is finished in two-tone red and white and shows signs of fading and paint chips on the hood and rear door, and dents can bee seen around the vehicle. Equipment includes FrontRunner load bars, steel bumpers, a Warn VR8000 winch, a 70-series snorkel, bright-finished sideview mirrors and door handles, front tow hooks, fender vents, steel bumpers, an electric rear window, and a removable pintle hitch. The doors were transferred from a 1973 FJ55 with rebuilt door rubber and hinges.
Gray-painted Smooth Vintique 16″ wheels from Summit Racing are mounted with 315/75 Yokohama G2003 tires. During its refurbishment the truck was fitted with 60-series FJ drag link and steering rods, a Dobinsons 20-way-adjustable stabilizer, Dobinsons IMS front shock absorbers and rear three-way-adjustable monotube remote-reservoir shock absorbers, and Old Man Emu leaf springs with 4 Plus shackle-reversal kits. The front axle was rebuilt with open 4.10:1 gears and the rear with TSM disc brakes and an ARB air locker.
The interior underwent refurbishment under current ownership beginning with Lizard Skin spray-on noise and heat insulation covered with a layer of Noico sound-deadening material. The front seats were replaced with Corbeau buckets, the rear bench was re-covered with gray upholstery, and a RetroSound stereo was installed. Additional features include rubber floor mats, a locking center console, a fire extinguisher, and manual windows.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph Yazaki speedometer and a combination gauge for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 4k miles and has rolled over. Approximately 25k miles have been added by the seller, and true mileage is unknown.
The replacement Mosley Motors high-output 4.4-liter Toyota 2F inline-six sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a Toyota H55 five-speed manual gearbox and a rebuilt Valley Hybrids split transfer case. The truck also has been equipped with a Holley Sniper electronic-fuel-injection kit, an exhaust header, and a replacement battery.
A Long Range Automotive 55-gallon fuel cell has been installed along with a RobbMc PowerSurge fuel pump. The exhaust system has been replaced.
