This 1983 Mazda RX-7 was reportedly purchased new by the seller’s neighbor from Weisleder Mazda of Brick Township, New Jersey, and subsequently placed in storage from 1992 until it was acquired by the seller in 2021. The car is finished in black over red vinyl and velour upholstery and is powered by a carbureted 1.1-liter rotary engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Features include pop-up headlights, a sunroof, 13″ alloy wheels, an AM/FM cassette radio, and air conditioning. Reconditioning service said to have been performed in preparation for the sale included clutch and brake work, flushing and changing the fluids, and replacement of the fuel tank, filter, and lines, the heater and coolant hoses, a freeze plug, the tension bolt seals, and the rear main seal.
The body is finished in black with matching side moldings, pop-up headlights, and a glass rear hatch.
Factory 13″ alloy wheels are wrapped in Kumho Solus TA11 tires measuring 185/70 that were installed in 2021. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. Recent service is said to have included an replacement of the front brake pads and a steering idler arm bushing along with an alignment and flushing and bleeding the brake hydraulic system.
The cabin features seating upholstered in red vinyl with velour inserts along with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes air conditioning and a sunroof along with a factory sunroof storage bag.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames a central tachometer, a 130-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles.
The carbureted 1.1-liter 12A rotary was factory rated at 100 horsepower. Service performed under current ownership is said to have included replacing the oil cooler seals, a freeze plug, the tension bolt seals, the rear main seal, the air and oil filters, and the spark plugs and wires as well as changing the oil, flushing the cooling system, and replacing the rubber hoses throughout the engine compartment.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The clutch disc, throwout bearing, and slave cylinder hydraulic hose were replaced under current ownership, and the transmission oil and clutch fluid was changed.
