This 1966 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is the product of a custom build that was completed seven years ago and utilized a 1968 Beetle Convertible and a 1966 Beetle Sedan as donors. The car was then finished in Grünblau blue over a black vinyl interior. This 1966 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is the product of a custom build that was completed seven years ago and utilized a 1968 Beetle Convertible and a 1966 Beetle Sedan as donors. The car was then finished in Grünblau blue over a black vinyl interior. Further refreshments included rebuilding the replacement 1.5-liter flat-four, installing a canvas convertible top and tonneau cover, and refinishing the steel wheels in black with chrome hubcaps. Power is routed through a four-speed manual transaxle, and additional features include chrome bumpers with overriders, a retro-style stereo, and running boards.
The car was painted during the work and features 1961 Volkswagen signal lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual side-view mirrors, and a fender-mounted antenna. A ding is noted on the left quarter panel.
Black 15″ steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps and are mounted with Coker whitewall tires all around. A black padded convertible top is fitted along with replacement hardware and a powder-coated frame.
The seats are upholstered in black vinyl and are joined by matching door panels and replacement carpets protected by rubber floor mats. Features include a locking glovebox and a retro-style push-button stereo.
The two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring fronts a body-color dashboard housing a rebuilt 90-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows just under 61k miles.
The 1.5-liter M157 flat-four was reportedly sourced from a 1968 Beetle and rebuilt during the refurbishment.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The underbody was coated with rust inhibitor according to the seller who also notes that the pan features replacement longitudinals and floors.
