This 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupe is finished in Organic Orange over beige cloth and is powered by a 1,600L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, the latter of which was reportedly recently rebuilt. Equipment includes twin Weber carburetors, a performance exhaust system, a short shift kit, and an upgraded audio system consisting of a Sony CD stereo and aftermarket speakers. Recent work is said to have included replacing the valves, gaskets, crankcase seals, rocker arms, and pushrod tubes.
The car was refinished in two-stage Organic Orange with textured side sills under previous ownership, at which time the seals for the windows, trunk, and decklid were replaced. Exterior features include replacement stainless steel bumpers with overriders, dual side mirrors, a louvered decklid, and a performance exhaust system with quad outlets.
Steel 15″ wheels were refinished in silver under previous ownership and wear polished VW-branded hubcaps and 165/80 Kumho Power Star 758 tires. Corrosion is noted on the inner barrel of the wheels. The brakes and brake lines are said to have been replaced at the time of the refurbishment.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a fold-down rear bench upholstered in replacement beige cloth with checkered inserts along with a matching headliner and door panels. Equipment includes front seat headrests embroidered with the VW logo as well as drilled window cranks, a Grant GT steering wheel, and an upgraded four-way flasher.
The wood dashboard fascia houses a Sony CD stereo linked to four aftermarket speakers and a rear-mounted subwoofer. Instrumentation consists of a 90-mph speedometer, an under-dash Sunpro tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for cylinder head temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 60 miles.
The 1,600L flat-four is equipped with twin Weber carburetors that were reportedly adjusted within the last 75 miles. Additional recent work is said to have included an oil change, a valve job, installing stainless steel valve covers, and replacing the cooling fan, crankcase seals, breather hoses, rocker arms, pushrod tubes, oil strainer, distributor O-ring, and fuel cap.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that was reportedly rebuilt within the last 75 miles. Additional recent maintenance is said to have included replacing the clutch, gland nut, and shift shaft guide. The car is equipped with a short shift kit, and a factory-style shifter is included in the sale.
